Mass murderer Julian Andrew Frank detonates a bomb on National Airlines Flight 2511 at the age of 33 in W Ridge Road, Bolivia, North Carolina, United States.
Frank had taken a life insurance for almost one million dollars, payable to his wife, to take care of a money deal that went wrong. His body was eventually found sixteen miles away at a place called Snow's Marsh west of the Cape Fear River. An autopsy showed that he had been fatally injured by a dynamite explosion originating either in his lap or (more likely) immediately under his seat. All other 33 on board were killed as well.

57 buses were in a convoy traveling to Ternate to celebrate the Feast of Epiphany when the 9th bus' brakes failed and rammed the bus ahead.

61-year-old Double murderer John Dale Cavaness aka Doc is sentenced to death for the murder of his 22 year old son Sean on 13 December 1984 in a scheme to collect $148,000 in insurance benefits in St. Louis County Circuit Court, 7900 Carondelet Avenue, Clayton, Missouri, United States.
He also killed his 22 year old son Mark Dale on 7 April 1977. At the time Cavaness collected $40,000 on an insurance policy on Mark`s life.
