171 die in Rhoads Opera House fire in Rhoads Opera House, South Washington Street and East Philadelphia Avenue, Boyertown, Pennsylvania, United States.
Nearly 400 people had packed an opera house to watch or perform in a play called 'The Scottish Reformation'. The fire wiped out about 10 percent of the town population.

21-year-old Performance artist Danny Devos aka DDV performs 'Happy Star/Nominette' in 't Fabrieksken, Burchtstraat 20, Aalst, Oost-Vlaanderen, Belgium.
During a concert by the band ‘Happy Star/Nominette’, I rolled violently through a heap of flour and screamed as loud as I could in a microphone until I was exhausted.
