213th Pope Innocentius VIII, originally Giovanni Battista Cybo dies of fever at the age of 60 in Rome, Lazio, Italy.

In July Innocentius VIII fell into a fever. He was said to have been given the world's first blood transfusion by his Jewish physician Giacomo di San Genesio, who had him bathe in the blood of three 10-year-old boys. The boys subsequently died.

39-year-old Admiral Horatio Nelson aka 1st Viscount Nelson loses his right arm in the battle during a failed siege and conquest in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Islas Canarias, Spain.

The surgeon had been warned of the contingency and got his instruments ready. Nelson was cited as saying, as he pointed to his right arm "Doctor, I want to get rid of this useless piece of flesh here". Nelson's operation was quick and aseptic. The limb was thrown over board despite the admiral's wish to keep it.

26-year-old Mass murderer Satoshi Uematsu known for the Sagamihara stabbings stabs 19 mentally disabled people from 18 to 70 years old to death in a residential care center in Tsukui Yamayuri En, Sagamihara, Kantō, Japan.

Another 26 patients were injured. Uematsu turned himself in at the Tsukui Police Station two hours after the incident with a bag of multiple kitchen knives and other bloodstained sharp tools.
