54-year-old Surgeon and grafting pioneer Serge Abrahamovitch Voronoff performs the first official transplantation of a monkey gland into a human in 2 Rue d'Auteuil, XVIe, Paris, Île-de-France, France.

The monkey gland would be cut in pieces of about two centimeters long by a half centimeter wide and a few millimeters deep. The surgeon would then introduce two grafts in the scrotum, which he fixed with stitches taken off after eight days. Among forty men operated on during the 1920's-30's at the Villa Molière in Auteil, at a nursing home, Ambroise Paré in Neuilly, and the Rue Montaigne nursing home were nine employees, seven doctors, four engineers, four men of letters, three architects, three manufacturers, two attorneys, two university profess ors, one man of private means, one agronomist, one painter, and one worker. Nine were between the ages of 20 and 40, eighteen were between 41 and 60 and seventeen were between 61 and 80.

African American civil rights activist Medgar Wiley Evers is shot in the back by Ku Klux Klan member Byron De La Beckwith at the age of 38 in 2332 Margaret Walker Alexander Drive, Jackson, Mississippi, United States.

De La Beckwith was only convicted of murder three decades later, on 5 February 1994. He died at age 80 in prison on 21 January 2001.

66-year-old Self-proclaimed Emperor of Central Africa Jean-Bédel Bokassa is sentenced to death in Palais de Justice, Rue de Normandie, Bangui, Ombella-M'Poko, Central African Republic.

Bokassa was found guilty of all but the cannibalism charges.

After carrying out his post-murder ritual of cleaning and clearing the scene Ireland set fire to the flat and left. He rang the police later to tell them to look for a body at the scene of a fire and added that he would probably not kill again.

Pop singer Ricky Valance, originally David Spencer known for his hit single ‘Tell Laura I Love Her’ dies of unknown causes at the age of 84 in Skegness, Lincolnshire, United Kingdom.

His agent said Valance had been diagnosed with dementia and had been in hospital since before the start of lockdown.
