Đức's act was a protest against against the persecution of Buddhists by South Vietnam's Ngô Đình Diệm administration. "Before closing my eyes and moving towards the vision of the Buddha, I respectfully plead to President Ngô Đình Diệm to take a mind of compassion towards the people of the nation and implement religious equality to maintain the strength of the homeland eternally."

(-) 51 years ago Thursday 11th of June 1964 Mass murderer Willi Walter Seifert aka Der Neue Hitler commits suicide by E605 poisoning at the age of 43 in Katholische Volksschule, Volkhovener Weg 209–211, Volkhoven, Köln, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. Before Seifert attacked people at the school with a home-made flamethrower, a mace and a lance, killing eight students and two teachers and wounding twenty-two others. Seifert had crafted all of his weapons about two months prior to the attack. The lance was made from a broomstick and a triangular scraper, while he used a pump bracket to create the mace. His flamethrower was made from an insecticide sprayer with a wire netting attached to the nozzle and filled with a mixture of old motor oil and paint thinner.
