Pepitone's head had been bashed 18 times with at least one weapon. He was rushed to Charity Hospital but within two hours he was pronounced dead. Pepitone was the twelfth and last known victim of The Axeman of New Orleans.

(x) 86 years ago He Hit the Bank Twice Sunday 27th of October 1935 Bomb attack by 21-year-old Serial bomber Hugh F. 'Idzy' Rutkowski aka The Mad Bomber of Milwaukee against the rear wall of the Citizens branch in First Wisconsin National Bank, 3602 W. Villard Ave, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States. Rutkowski's bomb weakened the building's foundation and sprayed glass over the surrounding homes. Using his stolen car that was made up to look like a police vehicle Rutkowski then sped away to the site of his next target. Less than 30 minutes later another bomb exploded, this time at the East Side branch of the First Wisconsin National Bank at the corner of N. Farwell and E. North Avenue. The dynamite had been placed on the ground at the rear of the buil ding, so much of the force of the explosion went outward, wrecking near-by parked cars.

Vigil was able to grab his gun by the muzzle and tried to wrest it from Glatman. As they fought over the gun Glatman accidentally fired a bullet that passed through Vigil's skirt, grazing her thigh. At that point Vigil bit Glatman's hand and was able to get hold of the gun. She pointed it at Glatman and held him there until police, alerted by a passing motorist, arrived on the scene. "I bit his wrist and he cried out, then suddenly I found I had the gun in my hand. I turned it around and pointed it at him. If I had known how to fire it, I believe I could have killed him. But he just stood there and watched me and after a while the police came."

Poulin opened fire on his classmates with a shotgun, killing 17-year-old classmate Mark Hough and wounding six others before killing himself. Earlier that day Poulin had raped and sodomized 17-year-old Sri Lankan Kim Rabot in his own bedroom before stabbing her to death.

(x) 38 years ago Thursday 27th of October 1983 44-year-old Serial killer Robert Christian Hansen aka The Aviation Hunter is arrested in Hansen's Bakery, Ninth and Ingra, Anchorage, Alaska, United States. Whilst Hansen was being interviewed a team of officers was searching his house. Behind wooden panelling in his trophy room police found items of cheap jewellery that was later traced back to the dead girls. Police also found a Ruger Mini-14 hunting rifle hidden under floorboards, which was later matched by ballistics as being the weapon that had killed Sherry Morrow and Paula Goulding. The most telling item found was an aviation map of the Anchorage region which was dotted with 20 drawn on asterisks. Two of these corresponded with sites where bodies had been found and a third indicated the spot where the body of 24-year-old prostitute Joanne Messina was found in July 1980.

Bowers shoots and kills 11 people and wounds six others including four police officers in a raid and shootout during Shabbat morning services in Tree of Life – Or L'Simcha synagogue, Squirrel Hill, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. Bowers entered the building and shouted "All Jews must die!" before opening fire.
