(-) 51 years ago He Was Uncooperative Sunday 27th of July 1969 Gary Allen Hinman is stabbed to death by criminal hippy gang the Manson Family in 964 Old Topanga Canyon Road, Topanga, California, United States. Family members Bobby Beausoleil, Mary Brunner and Susan Atkins to Hinman's home to convince him to join the Family and turn over the assets Manson thought Hinman had inherited. The three held the uncooperative Hinman hostage for two days, during which time Manson arrived with a sword and slashed his ear. After that Beausoleil stabbed Hinman to death. Before leaving the Topanga Canyon residence Beausoleil or one of the women used Hinman's blood to write "Political piggy" on the wall and to draw a panther paw, a Black Panther symbol.

(-) 50 years ago He Ruled in Privacy Monday 27th of July 1970 Dictator and Prime Minister of Portugal António de Oliveira Salazar dies of kidney failure at the age of 81 in Lisboa, Lisboa e Vale do Tejo, Portugal. In 1968 Salazar suffered a brain hemorrhage and lapsed into a coma. Most sources maintain that it occurred when he fell from a chair in his summer house. In February 2009 though there were anonymous witnesses who admitted after some investigation into Salazar's best-kept secrets that he had fallen in a bath instead of from a chair. As he was expected to die shortly after his fall, President Américo Tomás replaced him with Marcello Caetano. Despite the injury Salazar lived for a further two years. When he unexpected ly recovered lucidity his intimates did not tell him he had been removed from power, instead allowing him to 'rule' in privacy until his death.

Compton was recaptured in a suburb of Tucson, Arizona nine days later.

(x) 18 years ago Saturday 27th of July 2002 77 die in Ukrainian Air Force Sukhoi Su-27 crash and explosion in Sknyliv airfield, Lviv, Lviv Oblast, Ukraine. More than 10.000 spectators attended the air show staged to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Ukrainian Air Force's 14th Air Corps. The Su-27 aircraft entered a rolling maneuver with a downward trajectory at low altitude. It rolled upright once more and was still descending rapidly when the left wing dropped shortly before it hit the ground. 543 people were injured, 100 of whom were hospitalised. Both pilots survived with minor injuries.
