Rahn's 20-year-old neighbour Peter Schay is arrested on 8 June 1970 and charged with her murder. He spent 18 months in prison before he was acquitted on 12 November 1971 due to lack of evidence.

34-year-old Geologist and art vandal László Tóth attacks Michelangelo's Pietà with a geologist's hammer in Basilica di San Pietro, Rome, Lazio, Italy.

With fifteen blows Tóth removed Mary's arm at the elbow, knocked off a chunk of her nose, and chipped one of her eyelids while shouting "I am Jesus Christ - risen from the dead". Toth was subdued by bystanders, including American sculptor Bob Cassilly, who was the first person to pull him away from the Pietà.

31-year-old Geisha, prostitute, actress and murderess Sada Abe is arrested walking around the street with the cut off penis and testicles of her lover Kichizo Ishida in her handbag in Shinagawa, Tokyo, Kantō, Japan.

"I felt attached to Ishida's penis and thought that only after taking leave from it quietly could I then die. I unwrapped the paper holding them and gazed at his penis and scrotum. I put his penis in my mouth and even tried to insert it inside me... It didn't work however though I kept trying and trying." After her arrest, Ishida's penis and testicles were moved to Tokyo University Medical School's pathology museum. They were put on public display not long af ter the end of World War II, but they have since disappeared.
