(x) 183 years ago Friday 30th of January 1835 68-year-old 7th President of the United States Andrew Jackson aka Old Hickory escapes the first ever assassination attempt on a sitting president when 35-year-old unemployed house painter from England Richard Lawrence his two pistols both misfire in United States Capitol, Washington, District of Columbia, United States. Historians believe the humid weather contributed to the double misfiring. Lawrence was restrained and legend says that Jackson attacked Lawrence with his cane. Others present, including David Crockett, restrained and disarmed Lawrence.

Deschamps maintained that he had powers of the occult and told a friend of his that he was close to being able to use these powers to identify the whereabouts of some lost treasure. All he needed was a 12 year old virgin. His friend Jules Deitsch agreed to allow his own 12-year-old daughter Juliette to help him. Over a period of six months the girl attended these sessions where she would be hypnotised. What in fact happened was that Deschamps would use chlorform to induce unconciousness and then sexually assault Juliette.

Riddle's last meal request was for steak, baked potato, cherry cheesecake, salad, blue cheese dressing, rolls, Coke, coffee, strawberries, and oranges. His last words were "I would like to say to the world, I have always been a nice person. I have never been mean-hearted or cruel. I wish everybody well." On 9 October 1988 Riddle entered 39-year-old Ronnie Hood Bennett's home and used a tire iron to strike Bennett on the head at least 15 times, imbedding the tire iron into Bennett's sku ll and causing his death.
