(-) 129 years ago Tuesday 7th of August 1888 Martha Tabram, originally Martha White is stabbed to death by unidentified serial killer Jack the Ripper in George Yard Buildings, Whitechapel, London, Greater London, United Kingdom. Tabram was stabbed 39 times in the body and neck including nine times in the throat, five in the left lung, two in the right lung, one in the heart, five in the liver, two in the spleen, and six in the stomach, also wounding her lower abdomen and genitals. Tabram's murder differs from the canonical five Jack the Ripper murders in that she was stabbed rather than slashed at the throat and abdomen, and many experts today do not connect it with the later murders because of the difference in the wound pattern.

Månsdotter was the last woman to be executed in Sweden. Executioner Albert Gustaf Dahlman hit the block so that the lower jaw and a part of the tongue remained attached to the body while the upper part of Månsdotter's head rolled away.

Seven army ammunition trucks loaded with 1053 boxes of dynamite parked in an old railway station exploded in the early hours of the morning, destroying 41 blocks and leaving a crater 50 meters wide and 25 meters deep. The blast destroyed buildings, homes and existing businesses and killed about 4.000 people and injuring another 12.000. The cause of the explosion is unknown.
