The rope snapped and McConaghy fell on the floor. While a new rope was prepared McConaghy gave a chilling account of his methodical slaughter of his father-in-law's wife and five children.

Korostik was Chikatilo's 53rd and last victim, he was arrested on 20 November 1990 because a policeman had noticed Chikatilo approach a well and wash his face after he left the scene of the murder.
